About IX EUROSAI Congress 2014

Innovation as central theme

The Netherlands Court of Audit was proud to host the IX EUROSAI Congress in The Hague, the Netherlands. This was the meeting point for all supreme audit institutions in Europe, members of the EUROSAI community. Innovation was the central theme in The Hague from 16-19 June 2014. When was the last time you did something for the first time? We would like to contribute to better public auditing through sharing new ways of performing with each other.

About EUROSAI

EUROSAI (European Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions) is one of the Regional Groups of the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI). INTOSAI groups together the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) of 191 Full Members and 4 Associated Members, and it is listed as a support Organisation of the United Nations.

Other Regional Groups within INTOSAI are: OLACEFS, AFROSAI, ARABOSAI, ASOSAI, PASAI and CAROSAI.

EUROSAI was established in 1990 with 30 members (the SAIs of 29 European States and the European Court of Auditors). Now membership stands at 50 SAIs (the SAIs of 49 European States and the European Court of Auditors). The (permanent) Secretary-General of the organisation is the Supreme Audit Institution of Spain.

About the Netherlands Court of Audit

2014 sees the 200th birthday of the Netherlands Court of Audit. In addition, during the IX EUROSAI Congress the Netherlands Court of Audit took over the 3-year presidency of EUROSAI from Portugal.

Theme

One of the conclusions of the VIII EUROSAI Congress was that supreme audit institutions need to adapt to changes in society and innovate. Where better to start then with the congress itself? The IX EUROSAI Congress was an interactive event with input from all EUROSAI members, thus creating a truly shared experience. During YES 2013 young SAI professionals worked together and inspired each other, thus adding their own agenda to the proceedings of the IX EUROSAI Congress.
